Bridgeman stays calm under pressure to capture his first PGA TOUR title

At the Genesis Invitational, Jacob Bridgeman showed nerves of steel to win his first PGA Tour title. He carded a final-round 72 to edge out Kurt Kitayama and Rory McIlroy, who shot 64 and 67, respectively, in the final round. Bridgeman led the field by six strokes after 54 holes at 19-under, which tied the tournament record at that point.

This victory is special not only because it is Bridgeman’s first win but also because it happened at Riviera, a legendary course hosted by Tiger Woods.

After the tournament, Bridgeman said, “This means everything – this is my first PGA TOUR win, and to do it here at Riviera is incredible.”

Kitayama’s 64 on Sunday made for a thrilling finish, leaving everyone to wonder what could have been if only one more putt had fallen on the back nine. Even with huge nerves, Bridgeman held it together, while Kitayama made a late charge, which showed why this tournament always provides an exciting finish. And, of course, McIlroy’s performance kept everyone on edge until the final holes.

Bridgeman held firm, Kitayama charged, and Riviera delivered — a perfect Sunday that crowned a deserving champion and set the stage for what promises to be an amazing season.
